Ozone therapy is not new. The medical use of ozone has a long history in medicine as it has been used for health related conditions since 1885. Back in 1900s, Ozone was used to sterilize surgical instruments and was utilized in Europe as a medical treatment as an anti-infective medication when penicillins were not discovered yet. European countries have been using Ozone therapy for more than fifty years. Due to its multiple medical benefits, hospitals and clinics in Europe have implemented this therapy into medical practice in treating multiple illnesses.
Ozone therapy, when used in medical grade ozone levels, have numerous effects to body. Ozone or a reactive form of pure oxygen, triggers a healing response in the body which stimulates an immune response and removes most hindrances to the healing process.
What is Ozone?
Oxygen, is unstable and cannot exist in nature by itself as a single atom. However, two oxygen atoms combined can form O2 which is stable. O2 is the form of oxygen found in our environment or atmosphere and is called the “oxygen” that we breathe. When energy comes into contact with O2, these two oxygen atoms briefly separates into single atoms and a small percentage of free oxygen molecules can form into O3 by combining together. This combination converts O2 into O3 gas which has a therapeutic benefit in oxygenating hypoxic (low oxygen) tissue in the body. Tissue can be hypoxic due to trauma, normal aging or autoimmune conditions.
Benefits of Ozone include:
- Anti-inflammatory effect
- Detoxification effect
- Immune-modulating thus strengthening the immune system
- Activation of oxygen-dependent processes
- Anti-Aging Benefits
- Reversing Oxidative Stress
- Relief for symptoms associated with Neuropathy
- Chronic Pain and joint pains
Patients have experienced a dramatic reduction in pain levels and significantly higher energy levels. Oxygen should be considered our bodies fuel source. Ozone gas is a concentrated form of naturally occurring gas that we breathe. By delivering this form of gas to our body’s tissues we can expedite regeneration and restoration of damaged tissue.
How is it administered?
At LV Holistic Health we administer ozone in 3 ways:
A) Autohemotherapy – The most popular form of ozone therapy is administered intravenously. This direct route of delivering ozone to the body consists of drawing the patient’s blood, mixing the blood with ozone gas and reintroducing the ozonated blood into the body. Patients state that they can feel extremities “wake up” immediately.
B) Rectal Insufflation: Another way to administer ozone is to deliver the gas rectally. This form of administration can help with colon issues and can promote digestive health.
C) Prolozone Therapy: A third therapy for ozone is direct joint injection. Ozone injections into arthritic or damaged joints can help repair compromised joint tissue.
